Monday night we gathered together to watch Part 1 of the Marxist-Leninism DVD from the Understanding the Times series. Whitney asked if we were going to become angry again, like we did after watching the Secular Humanism DVD, which made us feel anger at the lie of that worldview, and how it dominates our public schools and universities today. But this time, it wasn't really anger we felt, but more a feeling of sadness or depression. The Marxist-Leninist is what I would call "the Secular Humanist gone evil". At it's core it is a wicked, heartless interpretation of reality and the value of man. It is completely atheistic based. The Marxist-Leninist considers man as nothing more than an animal to be conditioned by behavior management. They believe capitalism is evil, and communism is what will bring peace and harmony to people and the world.
It was difficult to watch some portions of this DVD, with scenes from the Holocaust, but important to know. Unfortunately, this worldview is still alive and well today. As a Christian, I just can't fathom how someone could think this way, but history proves they did, and some still do. We have the second half still to watch, and I will give a more complete review then.
As we learn together about false teachings, it causes us to realize all the more how fortunate we are to know the truth and power of God's Word. Every teaching or philosophy can only be considered as far as how it lines up against what God has to say.
