My Green Smoothie

I make these first thing every morning and send one in a quart ball jar with Carl to work.  Oh, and it's not green, it's purple.  It's called a green smoothie because of the healthy greens that are in it!  And if you're first starting out, use less greens and more fruit, gradually adding more greens each day.  Juicing and making green smoothies are two of the best things you can do for your health!

2 cups water
splash of orange juice
about 2 t. flax oil
about 2-3 T. agave (or another sweetener, such as honey)
1 leaf of rainbow chard
a BIG handful of baby spinach
Blend well about 30 seconds then add:
1 frozen banana
1 apple, cut up (seeds and all)
about 1-2 cups frozen blueberries
Blend well about 30 seconds then add:
about 2-3 cups mixed frozen fruit and/or frozen strawberries
Blend well about 60-90 seconds.

Optional superfoods you can add along with the blueberries: 1 T. goji berries, 2 t. cacao nibs (raw chocolate), 1 t. bee pollen granules (if you're not allergic!)  Makes 2 quarts plus 8 ounces, enough for Carl and I to have a quart each and Whitney to have the 8 ounces (it's all she wants at this point!)  I have a Blendtec high-speed blender, which makes a perfectly smooth smoothie.  A low-cost blender might not make it as smooth, but it'll still be yummy, and oh so good for you!  For more information about green smoothies and whole foods eating, check out this site.
